Group Announcements
Robotics Club T-Shirts Are In!!!
The t-shirts for Robotics Club have arrived and are looking great!!  The cost for the shirts is just $7.00!  Those that ordered shirts will be able to begin submitting payment Monday morning and picking up their shirts.
Friday Evening Meeting
It would be great if parents could bring paper products (plates, napkins, cups, forks, knives), dessert and drinks. We should only need a case or two of water, some cookies or whatever dessert we would like to have.  Please post a comment here as to what you may be able to bring (you may need to "Join Fusion Page" above) or send me an email me (hausampb@pwcs.edu) and I will update this announcement.  Thank you all so very much for your help throughout!
Our Next Meeting
The Lego Robotics Meeting on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 is CANCELLED.

- The timed runs will be held at our last morning meeting on Thursday, 12-6-11.

Our Season
Our Lego Robotics Club attended their regional competition at Battlefield High School on November 19, 2011.  The groups did an excellent job in all aspects of the competition and made their coach and school very proud. Unfortunately, our teams didn’t advance to the state competition this year. This should not, in any way, get our students down as they worked incredibly hard and well throughout the season growing both as teammates and young engineers.

Lego Robotics will be ending on December 9, 2011.  The season has been a whirlwind of fun, excitement, and learning.  Cooperation has grown immensely from the beginning of the season and all teams should be proud of their progress.  The 'gracious professionalism' shown by our members is a great thing to see.  Though we didn't qualify for states, we still applauded those that did and showed up for our next meeting ready to make improvements.  We will hold morning meetings on November 29th, December 1st, December 6th, and December 8th, 2011.  December 6, 2011 will be our last building/testing day with timed runs to measure our improvements since the competition.  December 8, 2011 will be our last morning meeting to disassemble our robots and organize the kits for next year!

I would also like to personally thank all of the students and parents for a wonderful season full of memories I will hold on to.  To do this, I would like to hold a final celebratory meeting with refreshments and pizza on Friday, December 9, 2011 (time will be decided based on response).  I invite all to view the slide show from the competition as well as to keep your interest in robotics thriving for the future.
Our Time Up to the Regional Competition (11-19-11)
Our groups will continue their hard work on finishing their projects and completing challenges with their robots this week and next.  We will meet Thursday, November 10, 2011, Tuesday, November 15, 2011, and Thursday, November 17, 2011 during our regular morning meeting times.  We will add a special after school meeting on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for students to make last minute changes and have themselves and their equipment picked up for the competition on Saturday (11-19-11).

**Important Note:
The Regional Lego Robotics Competition will be held November 19, 2011 at Battlefield High School.  The link is titled "Battlefield Competition - 2011" on the left side of the page and provides all the needed information on the competition.

The schedule for the day's events can be found here.

One member from each group will be required to be picked up after school on Friday, November 18, 2011 to get all their needed equipment to take to the competition.
This Week & Next 10-24 to 11-4-11
These upcoming weeks our groups will again continue to work on their projects, programming, and testing the robot.  It will be November 19th before we know it and we'll be at our first competition!
10-17-11 to 10-21-11
This upcoming week our groups will continue to work on their projects, programming, and testing the robot.  Groups will begin to troubleshoot different issues and work together to determine what changes are needed for success.
10-10-11 to 10-14-11
This week our groups continued to work on their projects for the competition.  Great ideas are emerging with students coming up with creative skits for their presentations.  We also began to look at programming and beginning to test our robots on the competition board.
This Week 10-3-11 through 10-7-11
Throughout this week our club begin to look at the Project portion of the Lego Robotics competitions.  We looked at many different problems in food safety/contamination and jumped straight into research on these problems.  Club members are tasked with researching the problem, coming up with a presentation, and devising an innovative solution to the problem.  Students' creativity is encouraged and solutions are saught that undoubtedly couldn't be thought of by anyone else.
Attendance
**Reminder: Due to the overwhelming demand for robotics, there is a strict attendance policy.  Students are given three unverified absences before their spot will be forfeited to the next student on the wait list.  Also, students attending need to arrive by 7:30 a.m. in order to not let their group fall behind.
9-27-11 & 9-29-11
This week we will continue building our robots.  Students are doing very well and should be keeping up their engineering notebook every meeting.
First Meeting
Our first meeting for Lego Robotics will be Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 7:30 a.m. in the Elementary Computer Lab.
